Corporate venturing vs. startup factory: two paths to innovation

What an evening at the last Between the Towers event! This time, everything revolved around innovation management—a topic that we deal with every day at neosfer. Innovation management is developing rapidly. We took an honest look at where the journey is headed and what opportunities are opening up for companies that approach it in the right way.

Corporate venturing: Why 97% of innovation projects fail | Frederic Pampus

Frederic Pampus has clearly demonstrated why so many innovation initiatives in corporations fail—and why they are nevertheless essential. 83% of companies say innovation is an absolute priority, but only 3% are truly prepared for it. That is a significant discrepancy.

His recommendation: don’t rely on one “miracle cure,” but combine different approaches – venture building, venture clienting, classic venture capital investments. No tool is a sure-fire success; in the end, what counts is strategic fit and staying power.

From corporate venture to startup factory: How Germany can reestablish innovation | Anton Bahtinov

Immediately afterwards, Anton Bahtinov from Futury showed why Germany urgently needs to catch up when it comes to innovation. His view of deep tech was a real eye-opener: only one in every 200 research projects currently makes it to the start-up stage – yet this is where the greatest potential for sustainable innovative change lies.

With the Startup Factory, Anton wants to change exactly that and bring science, start-ups, and established companies closer together. His vision: a genuine innovation ecosystem in which ideas grow faster and talent is specifically promoted.

In other words, innovation is not a sure-fire success. It requires structures, technology, new business models, courage, and the willingness to make mistakes sometimes – which is exactly what we live by at neosfer.

As usual, the presentations are available on our YouTube channel (in German)! It’s worth taking a look!
