During an exchange with Google, we became aware of the Solar API offered by the company. It estimates the potential electricity generation that the installation of a solar system on certain areas would have. Our idea was to use this application to build an application route for Commerzbank customers and thus expand the customer experience offered – everything from a single source: from yield analysis and proposals from potential providers to financing and funding – all automated and at a glance.

Procedure
After an initial presentation of the concept, we received positive feedback from the private and corporate customer segment of Commerzbank, including an application for a pilot project with customer tests. We therefore initially defined business customers and individuals as our target group.
Technical implementation
After setting up the Google Solar API connection and onboarding the support service provider, initial tests were carried out with the API. Unfortunately, the interface could not deliver 100% accuracy for areas in Germany, and we had to postpone the development of the PoC for the time being. Optimizing the accuracy would be possible, but would tie up resources that go beyond the requirements of a PoC.
