Background/Problem

NextGen Loop

The textile industry is one of the dirtiest sectors of the economy. According to estimates, the purchase of textiles in the EU caused around 270 kilograms of CO₂ emissions per person in 2020. It is clear that something needs to change. The number of problems in this area is high: there is a lack of transparency in the supply chains and a lack of involvement of recycling partners, while scaling opportunities are often still limited and there is a lack of involvement of innovative partners.

Solution approach/business model

Together with PwC and Canopy Planet, we have set out to create the No. 1 platform for the creation of circular value chains. With leading industry experts and strong partners at our side, we have set ourselves the goal of accelerating the use of “secondary material” in the market and continuously making the textile industry more transparent and greener.

Implementation

First, we conducted interviews with various “players” along the entire textile value chain, from fabric producers and processing companies to brands that sell the garments. This gave us a better picture of the requirements and needs of the various parties. From this, we were able to build an initial prototype for the platform, which is now being implemented in close collaboration with industry-leading companies and tested with partners to create the perfect solution for the future of the textile industry.
